The sizes of jackets

Normally jackets labels show two parameters:

  • the size (chest girth in inches);
  • the height (maximum height of a person the jacket would fit for).

All the parameters mentioned in common size charts are for people of standard body complexion. It’s recommended to check the web pages of particular brands for more detailed charts.

Important: the girths and lengthwise sizes are measured using the tape measure, that should be tight enough on the body, but not deforming it.

Standard and nonstandard sizes:

Standard size charts are made for people with following parameters:

  • women: from 165 (cm) up to 172 (cm) height;
  • men: up to 189 (cm) height, when the chest is 15-20% wider than the waist.

Nonstandard size charts labeling:

  • U: for stocky men, when the chest girth is 2-5% bigger than the waist circumference;
  • B: for obese men, when the waist circumference is 5-20% bigger than the chest girth;
  • S: for tall men, when the waist circumference is 1-5% smaller than the chest girth;
  • K, EK: for short women from 157 (cm) up to 164 (cm) height;
  • L, EL: for tall women from 172 (cm) height.

Important: if there are no special indications on the label, it means the garment is made for standard body parameters.
