Standard size for women’s hats is considered to vary from 54 to 59 sizes, for men’s hats - from 54 to 64 sizes, and size range of children’s hats starts with 48 and ends with 55 size.

Historically, in different countries when determining size of hats it is customary to use different systems and units, the main ones are as follows:

International letter system (each integer value of head circumference corresponds to certain letter combination, for example: XXS, XS, S, etc.);
Inches measurement system (size is value of head circumference expressed in inches, for example: 18 1/2, 18 7/8, etc.);
Centimeters measurement system (size is value of head circumference expressed in centimeters, for example: 53, 54, 55, etc.);
The Anglo-American number system (each integer value of head circumference corresponds to certain number in form of simple fraction, for example: 6 1/2, 6 3/4, etc.).
