The sizes of shoes

For calculating the size of shoes many producers use one parameter - foot length, which is measured by the foot contour, and equals the length from the toes to the heel.

Using the size chart and calculating by the formula S = foot length x 1.5 n, the shoes size is determined, where n - the allowance for free (not too tight) wearing.

For example: when the foot length = 24.4 (cm) men shoe size would be 38.

Shoe width:

The shoe width is measured on the forefoot, at the widest part of the foot.

Important: for the same size shoes there is a whole series of models that differ by width. The difference between the circumference at the forefoot in adjacent width sizes for shoes is from 4 (mm) to 8 (mm), depending on the shoe model and producer.

Unspoken world standard is the English width system, that is divided into 10 groups:

group F: for normal feet, the width is 25.5 (cm) for the size 37;
group G: for big feet, the width 23 (cm) for the size 37;
group H: for oversize feet, the width 23.5 (cm) for the size 37.

Important: other width groups and the intermediate measures (G ½) in practice are used only for individually made orders, or in very big shoe shops.
